Too busy doing rather than writing about it!

March - April 2015:   F1, Sepang and Western Australia, Perth.

Its weeks now since we started our College Easter Break, which opened in March 2015 with the Malaysian Grand Prix. What an amazing time we had. We had booked seats in the VR46 Tribune K1 stand, rather than the VIP roaming ones we had for the MOTOGP.

This stand has the best views of the start/finish line and first bend. It's sad to say that lots of action normally takes place on the first bend.    And we weren't disappointed, when Ericsson, tried to overtake Nico Hülkenberg, and got stuck in the gravel in lap four.

Marcus Ericsson - Caterham Number: 9

I was surprised that it was far quieter than the MotoGP in Oct 2014, not just the car but also the buzz around the complex.    Bikes must definitely be the sport of Malaysians.

Saying that, the company was good; with half the College, staff and students, at the race, it had a personal and friendly feel about it.

In spite of the sunburn, it was a good all round day, as K won the sweepstake having pulled Vettel out of the hat.

Perth, Western Australia  - April 2015

We headed off for Perth without appreciating that the temperature - although warmer than the summertime UK - would be far cooler in Oz.  Ginny and I constantly had cold feet and we even refused to use the pool at our condo for fear of being too chilly.  Who would have thought that 27 degrees could be unpleasant?

Fremantle Prison
Perth Zoo

We had a real lazy holiday.  Visiting the Zoo, shopping for normal size clothes, Fremantle Prison, a vineyard or two and watching the sunset over Scarborough Beach.

It was lovely to touch base with the Western world.  Being able to walk around without worrying about offending anyone with our thighs or shoulders, drinking wine in restaurants and not having to explain at least 20 times what you want to the guy behind the shop counter.  Saying that, I easily bored of the accent, beach bums in skimpy swimmers and the price of basics.  I might have been able to order my steak - medium rare please - without fuss, but paying 300 AUD (150 quid) for four sirloin and chips when I can get it just as good at Aunty Aini's for 140RM (28 quid) was a shock to the system.

And tomorrow we leave for yet another holiday.  We are beginning to rival 'Air-miles' Andy or his jet setting daughter Princess Beatrice, I know!   It's mid-term break and we are travelling to Siem Reap, Cambodia in the morning.   I am especially looking forward to Ankgor Wat, cheap beer and the Bugs Cafe.

Cambodia has always been on my bucket list since the iconic HSBC advert about five years ago.
